Navigating the Paris 2024 Paralympics: Public Transport Plans for the Opening Ceremony

On August 28th, 2024, Paris will welcome 50,000 spectators to celebrate the opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games. From the foot of the Champs-Élysées to the Place de la Concorde, a parade of 168 delegations of Paralympic para athletes from around the world will mark this historic event.

Did you know ? 15,000 free access spots will be available along the Champs-Élysées to watch the parade. The remaining 35,000 spectators will be seated in the stands at the Place de la Concorde stadium, accessible with a ticket.

Paris 2024 Paralympic Games Opening Ceremony: how to get there by public transport?

For spectators without tickets, we recommend accessing :

  • to the Élysée area via Miromesnil (lines 9 and 13) and Franklin Roosevelt (lines 1 and 9) stations. Avoid Madeleine station.
  • to the Seine area via Alma Marceau (line 9), Assemblée nationale (line 12) and Invalides (RER C, lines 8 and 13).

For the spectators with tickets, we recommend accessing :

  • Concorde zones 1, 1 bis and 4 via Madeleine (lines 8, 12 and 14) ;
  • Concorde zones 2, 2 bis and 3 via Invalides (lines 8 and 13), Assemblée nationale (line 12), Musée d'Orsay (RER C).

Drop-off zones for wheelchair users

Three zones will be dedicated to the Île-de-France Mobilités accessible shuttle service and to cabs for disabled spectators.

Please note: on request, wheelchairs will be made available to people with reduced mobility. Volunteers can accompany them to their seats.

Stations closed

To respect the security perimeter around the parade and ceremony sites, traffic will be modified and certain stations closed to the public:

  • Champs-Élysées/Clemenceau, Concorde and Tuileries stations will be closed.
  • Franklin Roosevelt station: closure of line 9 entrances (the station will not be served) and of all metro entrances on the Champs-Élysées traffic circle.
  • Franklin Roosevelt station: access to line 1 and the south and north metro entrances on the Champs-Élysées will remain open at rue de Marignan.
  • Musée d'Orsay station: the station remains open, but the RER stations on quai Anatole France will be closed.
  • Palais Royal-Musée du Louvre station: the station will remain open, but the RER stations within the protected perimeter will be closed.

Opening Ceremony: accessible shuttles to transport wheelchair users

For the Opening Ceremony of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games, the Île-de-France Mobilités accessible shuttle service, normally open to ticketed spectators with disabilities (and their companions), is exceptionally opening its reservations to spectators in wheelchairs without tickets who wish to attend the event on the free-access seats.
