Île-de-France Mobilités:
safer mobility

Île-de-France Mobilités: safer public transport
Making transport safer so that you can travel in peace is one of Île-de-France Mobilités’ commitments.
Each year, around 150 million euros are devoted to security in the Paris region transport. The aim is that passengers can travel safely, anywhere on the network, at any time.
At the heart of these investments are a reinforced human presence, improved coordination between services, wider video protection, technological innovations and renovations.
There is a particular emphasis on preventing anti-social behaviour and especially sexual or gender-based aggression, solutions for reporting emergencies and getting a rapid and effective response, for the safety of all passengers.

3117: the emergency number
31 17: this free emergency phone number is reserved for calls concerning security, harassment, rescue and assistance. It operates 24/7 on all train, RER and metro lines, as well as on buses in Paris and its inner suburbs.
The emergency service can also be contacted by SMS, on 31 17 7, and on the “Alerte 3117” app.

Strengthening security measures during the Paris 2024 Games
- 5,000 additional agents (including those specifically for security) will be deployed in addition to the security agents who usually work on the network. Flow management personnel will be identifiable by their purple bibs. They will be present in stations serving spectators and tourists.
- 80,000 cameras installed across the transport network, with an additional 500 cameras installed in 21 strategic stations between now and the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
- More than 50 dog teams to detect explosives, are also deployed on the Paris region network to intervene when abandoned objects are found. They will be further strengthened between now and the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games and will work hand in hand with law enforcement.
- The security system for the Île-de-France Mobilités network is planned and coordinated under the authority of Paris Police HQ in charge of securing the event and security in public transport, through the Operational Security Coordination Centre (CCOS), co-financed by Île-de-France Mobilités.
CCOS: the unified command centre for a coordinated security policy
The Operational Security Coordination Centre for transport (CCOS) is a system resulting from a strong desire by Île-de-France Mobilités with more than €8 million in funding, and €200,000 in investment from every year.
It is the first European coordination centre which brings together internal security forces and transport operators (RATP and SNCF).

Bus stop on demand
Île-de-France Mobilités believes that passengers should be able to travel in complete safety, anywhere on the network, at any time.
Now, after 10 pm, anyone who asks can get off between two bus stops, to avoid a long journey on foot. This is particularly beneficial in less dense areas of the Paris region and in residential zones. So in the evening, on any bus, you can ask to stop anywhere along the route to return home safely.
